That’s Not Nice
It's not exactly what you'd want to hear from anyone but sometimes I just wish... I'd rather hear this than someone being too nice.
Ever since you were little you were told to do two things: Share and be nice. Being "nice", however, can create a lot of conflict.
But you would think and have learned totally the opposite: You're nice because you want to avoid conflict.
Nope, not the case at all.
I think many problems are perpetuated by people who just want to be "nice" so that no consternation or criticism comes their way. After all, who wants to be the bearer of truth, especially when it might deal with some bad news or some blind spots in people's lives.
But we need people to point out the blind spots, because blind spots are potentially dangerous. If you're too nice, you allow someone to continue living in a manner or making decisions or choosing actions that may potentially harm others or themselves. But do so wisely.
Don't be nice... speak the truth in love. Ephesians 4:15
