Sundays are for Football
I stopped by a RadioShack yesterday looking for a stereo cord to hook up my iPod Shuffle to my car stereo so I could listen to my podcasts for my commute back home after church.
There was a young guy, real cordial and helpful, that got me exactly what I needed and then proceeded to ring up my purchase. Out of courtesy he asked me, "So, how's your day going?" to which I replied, "Alright, I guess, just got done with church today."
"Church?" he inquired. "So, I guess you're not much of a football fan."
Not a football fan??? I love football! Out of all the prayers I lift up, I'm sure this is one that God often ignores.
"Lord, why couldn't you make two Sundays so that one of them could be for church and the other for football?!?"
But I digress. I continued to explain to the clerk that there was still Monday night football and how pumped I was for tonight's game between the Vikings and the Packers (awesome game, by the way!). We shared fantasy football moves, but inside, I was wondering, as much as I love football and as engaging as it is, how can the church compete with football?
But I realized that on any given Sunday morning, as big as the Dallas Cowboy's stadium is, there is nothing like the church.
I too often forget that the church will last forever, that nothing instituted by God will ever diminish.
Now, only if I could only find to create a football small group that worships on Sunday at games. I kid, I kid.

Instead of competeing with religious tradition the NFL should not have games played before 4PM eastern time (1PM pacific) to accommodate all christians who would like to worship and also watch their favorite team
