Numbness Won’t Prevail If I Don’t Let It
Haiti, now Chile. Looks like the push to help the people of Chile isn't as urgent as Haiti if you're watching the news, that is. There are no Red Cross commercials asking you to text to donate (or at least I've not seen them), no celebrities, and frankly if you're like me you're becoming numb to it all. Ten dollars here and there, maybe a hundred if you're really feeling generous, but if you're like me you start to wonder what good is that money going to do. I want to go help, I want to get on the next flight, but what about everything I've got going on here in my own world?!?
I could get all self-righteous and say money's not enough, refuse to give something because I can't give everything. But, that seems so selfish. In fact, I'm missing the whole point. Helping others is all about helping others. If that's the case, how did it come down to me?!?
Don't let numbness prevail. Do something for others, because it's not about you anyway.
