Daydreams (Part 2)

Continued on from Part 1 (read it before you read on!).

I tried to remain calm, but people who weren't part of our group were now in a complete frenzy.  Here's the crazy part, some people were so terrified that instead of waiting for the plane to crash, one person opened the emergency hatch and now all hell (and debri) was breaking loose in the cabin.

Scared for the kids I looked back to make sure they were all still seated, but they weren't.  In fact, they were up and about, trying to help others, even the ones that were ejecting themselves from the plane.

"Are you crazy???  Get back in your seats!  For the love of God SIT DOWN!!!" I yelled.

"We can't," replied one student.

"Can't is not an option.  SIT DOWN!!!"

But that's when I heard it, and that's when I woke up.  One line that caught my whole attention, one simple truth that could revolutionize their lives if they had surely meant it.

There were a couple of students who were closer to the emergency hatch (I always thought if you were mid-flight you'd get sucked out of the plane if the emergency hatch opened--just like in the movies!) and I could see them motioning others as they jumped off the plane.  One student was in an argument with an older man, and as I crept closer I began to understand the exchange that was taking place.

"You're just a kid, save yourself!" yelled the man.

And here it is, the one line that woke me:

"I know where I am going, save yourself!"

I interpreted it this way.  The student knew where they were going in terms of their ultimate salvation.  In as few of words as possible those words basically said:

"I know the hope I have and who I am going to be with when my life ends.  But, if you do not know who God is and have not heard about salvation, it's best that you jump now and save yourself so you might hear it--either that or wonder for yourself why I am giving up my life so that you can save yours.  Because, you see, that's what Jesus did for us--He died to save us even when we did not deserve any of it at all."

I was listening to a podcast this morning from Cornerstone.  Francis Chan had quoted another pastor saying,"Live lives that demand an explanation."

"I know where I am going, save yourself" demands an explanation.
