Find Your Strongest Life (Review)

As part of the Thomas Nelson bloggers program I get free books.  I've been looking for something to help me help others, especially the women that are in my life and the ones that I serve alongside with in ministry.  Is this the book I was looking for?

Marcus Buckingham is one of the premier strength coaches in the world, who was also featured on Oprah for a special workshop and called on by top CEO's throughout he country.  This book focuses on women.  By studying the most successful women in the world, Buckingham claims that there are some things that women can "have it all", but not necessarily in the way that you perceive it.

To take the "Strongest Life" test now, women, click here to find out what "role you were meant to play", which is explained in chapter 7 of the book.

Now, I'm always skeptical about a book when it says you can "have it all", but clearly Buckingham wasn't going there otherwise he would not be the professional that he is if he made such a blanket statement like that.  His argument, in the book, is not that women can juggle everything in their life and he'll show you how, but to discover and focus on your strengths so that you can find fulfillment and live your life in a way that leans towards that rather than busy-ness.

His findings break the myths that women are more happier as a result of greater freedom and choices in life.  In fact, the book expounds upon ten myths that are usually associated with expectations and perceptions about women.  It's a pretty quick read, but to the point and insightful, helping women to discover simple tools to help find what's most important, to lean into your strengths, and to overcome the oppression of society's often unmerited expectation of women.
